Fool Enough to Try

Woke up to the sound of morning rain
With nothing at hand to ease the pain
This broken body's grateful for the sound
Of the shower that's coming down
I spend my days beneath the sky
And see the days and clouds roll by
But years of work breaks a body down
And there's not much left to go around

But you'll see me in the field
In the plant, the mine, the mill
To live and pay my tax and die
But I'm still fool enough to try

Raise your kids and love your wife
Work each day to provide for life
But there's more in life to mend
Cause our last breath is not the end
I gave my soul to Jesus Christ
He promised me eternal life
His Word gives hope in every day
And He still hears us when we pray

Still, you'll see me in the field
In the plant, the mine, the mill
To live and pay my tax and die
God make me fool enough to try
