Our Town

They said the man was nearly dead
Drunken in the snow
The paper better hear of it
Well there's not much else to show for this town
She witnessed as her father made
His way up to the house
She didn't know he'd been away
So far to come around to this town, and
Suddenly she feels as though
Her life is not worth livin' anymore
Suddenly she feels as though
Her eyes could never witness something more
Than she thought she'd understand-
But really, that's distracting
When the loss of meaning-
Shows that you were livin' good
By just livin' at all, and
They go by life in twos
But in masses they fall
And in the masses they rise
Winter always comes to dust
Upon the graves
They had a lovely weddin' day
But she had trouble givin' birth
Now he grovels where her body lay
Embedded in the earth
Of the hill by this town, and
Suddenly she feels as though
Her life is not worth livin' anymore
Suddenly she feels as though
Her eyes could never witness something more
Than she never got to understand, but really
That's distracting when the loss of meaning
Shows that you weren't livin'
Through livin' afterall
And they go by life in twos
But in masses they fall
And in the masses they rise
Winter always comes to dust
Upon the graves
They don't understand
They don't understand
They don't understand, mama
They don't understand
