Root Cellar

Day by day
We didn't see the facility
Lost its stability

Crate by crate
We had to throw out the harvest
Rotten and garbage

Scraped our plates
When the air became frozen
And someone was chosen

To save our fate
To make sure our number
Would even reach Summer

I don't know how I managed to tell her
That she was supposed to go down in the Cellar

They had hung her so long from the ceiling
She gave us a meal
She gave me a feeling of

You can smell it from a mile away
Ain't no reason for a smile today

Night by night
The Spring air was blowing
And nothing was growing

One more bite
Another was needed
So everyone feeded

TImes were tight
The fight for survival
And so many rivals

Eyes went white
I not for the life of me
Thought there'd be knives in me

Then they dragged me back down to the Cellar
She was still hanging there
She was still hanging there

There was something inside of the room
You can just call it a kind of perfume
And you

You can smell it from a mile away
Ain't no reason for a smile today

You can smell it from a mile away
Ain't no reason for a smile today

You can smell it from a mile away
Ain't no reason for a smile today
You can smell it from a mile away
You can smell it from a mile away
