Sylvia
On a walk through Heritage Park
I saw her sitting on a bench
Staring at the water and at larks
Sitting so peacefully
So suddenly the scene changed
And there she stood on the crags
Opened out to the green sea
And the whipping, tearing flags
I don't know what just happened
But she's captured my attention
That splendor ain't a fraction
Of what I thought was heaven
She's opened the iron gate
From this to another world
I suppose that's something more
Than what I thought was possible
Possible
She took my hand and lead
Me through the flower meadows
How much the yellow there
Was so much more than despair
Next to the mountaintops
The continents far off
Away in four directions
My smile was electric
She turned around to say
With her face of pearl
"My name is Sylvia
But here that doesn't matter."
Such a world filled with grace
Glory hath no other name
I thought I was floating
Away into the clouds
I don't know what just happened
But she's captured my attention
That splendor ain't a fraction
Of what I thought was heaven
She's opened the iron gate
From this to another world
I suppose that's something more
Than what I thought was possible
Possible
But then the vision snapped
Back into its place and I
Saw her standing up
And finally walking away
I felt as if I lost
A lover from a different place
But it was all make-believe
It was all in my head
Sylvia, don't leave me now
I know we can work it out
Sylvia, don't leave me now
I know we can work it out
Sylvia, don't leave me now
I know we can work it out
A year ago, a world away
But still I want you to stay
Kaleidoscopic visions
Cause so many divisions
The tension's growing stronger
Letting go is getting harder
This man-made fantasy
Just won't let go of me
Sylvia, come back to me
With your dream-state reality
I'm hurting still and you
Brought to me some solitude
I've been searching the streets
For someone to fill my needs
But God knows it's been you
That I've tried to pursue
I know you're not real
But I'm dealing with how I feel
You've got me up all night
Thinking of how to make it right
The walls are falling down
And I can't hear a wicked sound
Is this an obsession 'cause I
Wouldn't know the difference
Without you?
Without you?
Without you?
Without you?
Without you?
I guess there are consequences to everything in life
Whether that be for better or for worse
I saw her sitting on a bench
Staring at the water and at larks
Sitting so peacefully
So suddenly the scene changed
And there she stood on the crags
Opened out to the green sea
And the whipping, tearing flags
I don't know what just happened
