The Last Page
I've been writing down these lyrics, these stories I'm telling in the book
About a kid who looks back on the shots he never took
And after verses, he notice, he never writes a hook
'Cause he don't wanna come back to the fact he gettin' overlooked
He tried to tell his stories, but women wasn't hearing him out
Began to speak, but then women started clearing him out
He got discouraged, his pages, started tearing them out
But made it to the last page, and really got to spilling out
And last page, was all that he needed to see he was enough
It was all that he needed to see that he was loved
It gave light to a kid who was walking in the dark
The last page, would ask for my hand and give me keys to her heart
She made me feel I was important, she told me every morning
She might not see where I'm at but I know that she supports it
She gives her effort when everyone else abandoned
I'm glad I took the page off the shelf because she my best friend now
I know I needed that
And man, I still believe in that
I lost my heart on the first page, but this last page
Would let me get the keys and then tell me where I could leave it at
I found my worth in her story
It was getting pretty dark, I stopped the clouds as they forming
And told them warning, there's no storming on the green side
So y'all can go away and find a shelter for the meantime
To blow away, 'cause I ain't really planning on closing up on this girl today
She stepped inside my life and then instantly took my breath away
She did it in few seconds, what others wasn't doing in months
I could feel the connections and we ain't even touched
Tell me, ain't it crazy
I'm feeling like I'm Justin, 'cause I keep calling her baby
Maybe I can get my name inside her heart if I engrave it
Gotta make sure that I'm safe, so I'll take it, write it in pavement
This where I'm meant to be
And I guess the rest is history
They say loving is a mystery
But call me Johnny Nash, because everything looking clear to me
The rain is gone
I noticed the same time that the pain was gone
I started losing hope because I didn't think it'd take this long
But now I have a different point of view
And maybe patience helped me start to write my music about you
You the only page I need
You the only page I need
Last page, was all that he needed to see he was enough
It was all that he needed to see that he was loved
It gave light to a kid who was walking in the dark
The last page, would ask for my hand and give me keys to her heart
She made me feel I was important, she told me every morning
She might not see where I'm at but I know that she supports it
She gives her effort when everyone else abandoned
I'm glad I took this page off the shelf because she my best friend now
The last page, she showed me, that I'm never lonely, with her
Told me keep my head up, told me keep my head up
The last page, she showed me, that I'm never lonely, with her
Told me keep my head up, told me keep my head up
About a kid who looks back on the shots he never took
