Purple Mountains

There was a time not too long ago
When the earth grew wild and the rivers freely flowed
One by one the colors came
Known by their shade, not by their name

Some came by vessel from across the sea
Some flew from the air, others crawled on their knees
Some of them stolen, some lost their way
Others came from the earth, raised up from the clay

Every twenty times 'round the sun
Come the daughters, come the sons
To decide what they want
And shake those colors up

Green ground grow wild
Red feathers fly
White eyes look wide
Grey stone climb high
Blue waters flow
Brown hands take hold
Purple mountains shine
In the dark black sky

There's a new way to paint the page
So each face has a name
And a home, to call their own

Where every shape has a place
To feel whole, to feel safe
To share what they know

And let their colors show

Green ground grow wild
Red feathers fly
White eyes look wide
Grey stone climb high
Blue waters flow
Brown hands take hold
Purple mountains shine
In the open sky

Green ground grow wild (Green ground grow wild)
Red feathers fly (Red feathers fly)
White eyes look wide (White eyes look wide)
Grey stone climb high
Blue waters flow (Blue waters flow)
Brown hands take hold (Brown hands take hold)
Purple mountains shine (Purple mountains shine)
In the open sky

Purple mountains shine
In the open sky
