Stare Through the Sun

Little Johnny Paperface, never cared for outer space
In between his bouts of rock and roll
Throwing rocks at passing cars, never tuned his own guitars
Who knows if he'd ever had a soul

Till one day when the sky grew dim
A swirling cosmos drew him in
Then Johnny put his pen to paper
And stated to the world

I stare right through the sun, I can't be the only one
Who yearns to find, the many stars behind
To stare right through the sun, counting planets on the run
Searching to find, the universe behind
Before it burns for you and me

Little Maggie Moonbeam, never dared to have a bad dream
In her nest of love and soul
Throwing looks at dizzy men, oh she never made her own bed
Maybe now she never ever would

Till Mercury grew paper thin
To show the lightning held within
Maggie felt the rain come down
And shouted to the world (oh you know she shouted loud)

I stare right through the sun, I can't be the only one
Who yearns to find, the many stars behind
To stare right through the sun, counting planets on the run
Searching to find, the universe behind
Before it burns for you and me

Ah, dirty secrets told
For all the boys and girls of old
Their fires warm and dreams gone cold
I sit upon the ozone layer
Peer through holes to hear the prayers
Of groovy souls hanging in the air
I find it hard to care

I stare right through the sun, I can't be the only one
Who yearns to find, the many stars behind
To stare right through the sun, counting planets on the run
Searching to find, the universe behind
Before it burns for you and me
As we yearn to all be free
The planets turn so silently
Till they burn for you and
