Memories

When I was growing up I thought this life don't make much sense
We go to college get a job and move away from friends
I know that I for one could use the time to make amends
For the way that this old road twists and bends
Sorry mama I'm a person with a colorful smile
That wishes nothing but a chance to be happy a while
Tell my girlfriend that I love her every day when I die
Till then maybe we can figure out a way to get by
Yeah I know that life is crazy I'm just trying to make it better
Tell the truth inside my records
Make the best of my decisions
Be the greatest rapper standing on the face of the globe
Maybe give a broken child like me a little bit of hope
And I can't hold no regular job cause
I cannot help but thinking that I'm gonna go far
Sorry mama I'm not gonna waste my time in the spot
Cause I didn't get to here without working hard
In this world so mad humans kill their brothers
Take a whole step back see the bigger picture
We divide by race and erase the nature
Never mind our fates we were meant to differ
Human beings are designed to grieve
And to deceive our dreams we leave them at the seems
But we deny their place in our world awake
Cause there's not enough time in our day to day

And there's so many things around me I don't understand
And maybe when we're older we can do this all again
Maybe someday we can get to see the whole globe and
Help all of the people that I meet at my shows and
Never give a fuck about the way the world goes
And spread a bunch of love to people who need it most yeah
All we make are memories and memories are all I want to hold

But I cannot give it up if I wanna make it out
Lost my dad when I was young I just wanna make him proud
Be a man he would respect even though I'm smoking loud
So I think of him a lot every time I see the crowd
Send a text up to my mama just to make sure she's alright
Working harder every day than we party every night
Then we wake up in the morning and we do it all again
So that maybe in the future I can feed my children
Never realized that I would think of back when
I waited for the bus to hang out with my friends
Guess it's been a while now hasn't it been
Man those years were some years well spent
This don't mean that I'm sad they're gone
Yeah I had my fun now I'm coming home
To a place where I'm finally feeling free
To a place where I'm filled with memories
I guess we're stuck in a vicious circle
Just dumb luck and refusing labels
Stay with me I can tell you fables
Tales of old where we find the gold
Ain't growing old bro I'm smoking bowls
I'm not so sure where we're bound to go
There's so many things I've yet to know
Yet anywhere's better than Gatineau

And there's so many things around me I don't understand
And maybe when we're older we can do this all again
Maybe someday we can get to see the whole globe and
Help all of the people that I meet at my shows and
Never give a fuck about the way the world goes
And spread a bunch of love to people who need it most yeah
All we make are memories and memories are all I want to hold
