Spirit of the Word

Ill-gotten goods are the spoils of Goliaths
Remove the hoods from a bulk of the pious
Y'all touching Midas or Ozymandias territory
If there's anything I know, we're not supposed to be violent
The Tyrant meant to be our enemy
Not an energy for us to replicate for "our own"
The men that hunt for a throne shouldn't have a home
Within our destiny, 'cause that's a recipe for disaster
And going backwards, I hazard less than half of us left
Have ever happened to step on the land
That's so defensive on behalf of its residents
And the rights so-embedded to the children by legends
But won't extend the benefits to their brethren
Refuse to let 'em in, we better than this use of protection
Like a century of tension with no sense of direction
Set a course-correction before endorphins prevent it

It's been years of hearing chorus
Being inundated with lies
Did you learn nothing from the suffering of those who came before us?
Those that struggled in the forest just to keep the faith alive?
I can't express my shame in the homeland
Without your claims of self-hate
When the blame of my anger is the nation, not the faith that it's based in
That's not an explanation I should have to make
I should say my patience is tested
Every time the government responds with aggression
Against the refugees that they created, asking for rations
That ain't what the Torah's saying, but they choosing oppression
Kids go to Synagogues in Brooklyn
And exit cooking up a moral standard that I would call "crooked"
That ain't what Moses was looking for, return to the book
And learn the spirit of The Word means return what we took
