Papa Jazz & Mama Blues
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
There's a story I have about old Papa Jazz
Who lived way down in the South
And every evening at Jimmy's bar
He'd be fine, and jammin' in with Jazz until dawn
One night across the street
He heard a piano so sweet
Made him tremble from his hat to his shoes
He went on in, that's where my story begins
'Cause the piano girl was known for her beat
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
Papa sent her a gin
With a note to sit in
And Mama gave Papa the eye
And in a moment the two
Were seated side by side
Moving higher than a bird in the sky
Well he played some licks
That knocked Mama for six
He barely made that old guitar rock
The very next day they were both on their way
On a Greyhound to old New York
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
From New York to Dallas
They opened up the show
From Dallas to Denver
They really started to grow
With a head of a band
They traveled the land
Kicking dust off of their shoes
Momma, she dug Papa Jazz
Papa dug Mama Blues
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
In next to no time they were in the big time
They're livin' like a king and a queen
And one day Papa got introduced to Madeleine May
A star from the silver screen
Now, he got hooked on Madeleine's looks
She let old Papa astray
Now this Twosome, from old Tucson
Have gone their separate ways
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
From New York to Dallas
They opened up the show
From Dallas to Denver
They really started to grow
With the help of a band
They traveled the land
Kicking dust off of their shoes
And Papa gave Mama the jazz
Mama's left singing the blues
Papa gave Mama the jazz
Mama's left singing the blues
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
Mama sang to the blues
Da, da, da, da
Da, da, da, da,, da, doo
