Just A Memory

I recalled a memory in my room last night
It was 5a.m and the sky was burned
I can never sleep at all
I miss when I could dream
I swear I was 16 with a pocket full of beans
Needed money and swore that I would get it by any means
Hit the road, it was just the moon and me

Felt the heat through the street with the shoes on my feet
Couldn't do it alone, hit my brodie on the phone
He got the OG, got the drop, then went straight to the spot
He never made it out the house that night (house that night)
Have you ever heard a mother cry?

I said, "Please, don't hate me, you can blame me
'Cause I should've been right by your side, yeah
I swear I will find a way to stay alive (stay alive)
If this don't eat me alive

I was corrupted by a substance, took it all in abundance
Everyone I love was knowin' I was up to somethin'
Those were dark days, I was really in a dark place
Lookin' back, I'm glad that it was just a dark phase
I had nothin', money only thing I think of
Started writing poems, and turned that shit into some income
Smoke some, drink some, dealin' with my demons
No respect for myself, I don't know the reasons

I said, "Please, don't hate me, you can blame me
'Cause I should've been right by your side, yeah
I swear I will find a way to stay alive
If this don't eat me alive
