Letter to a Sculptor

Draw me a sketch
And cast me to stone
I'll make these gardens
A home
Blossom through time
And watch it grow old
Colour my eyes
And stand me up tall
I'll watch as empires fall
And I'll still be left, young
Through it all

Why can't I be
Can't I be immortal?
Eternity is bound
To get bored without
Somebody's eyes
To watch it pass by
Print me to the landscape
And let it be mine
Oh I'll be
I'll be immortal

So bathe me in secrets
And dress me in green
I'll eavesdrop
On red gingham dreams
And keep them alive
Long after you leave
Shadow my eyes with
A wallflower crown
I'll watch the world
On it's rounds
I'll be a feature, set root
To the ground

Why can't I be
Can't I be immortal?
Eternity is bound
To get bored without
Somebody's eyes
To watch it pass by
Print me to the landscape
And let it be mine
Oh I'll be
I'll be immortal
