Woolco Tapes

Press Play yall!
Press Pause yall!
Press Stop and then rewind!
And when you find a loop then you do it again
Record the same thing every time!
Cmon!

Well every time I set up and step in the booth
I can't help but reflect on cassettes of my youth
When I was packing the crew into my tiny bedroom
A recluse recording freestyles to let loose
Heads knew ya it's the truth going way back
Making mixtapes recordings and playbacks
ADATs nah crap from Radio Shack
I bought second hand like I was paying for crack
Happily making demos on the cheapest of cheap gear
Not your every day like a leap year
See here as a kid without any cash
At Woolco that could buy you a ten pack of blank tapes
Like they were giving em away as if to say
Give them something to play!
Ok so thats exactly what I did with my double cassette deck dubbing all the hits on
Woolco Tapes!
On Woolco Tapes!
I was staying up late making Woolco tapes into something great
Cause every single blank tape was a new space giving you a blank slate

Well they were super portable had storage and were versatile
Fully recordable forward and reversible!
Affordable!
Ya as seen on commercials
Horrible the first words that I burgled
From Rap Traxx to Rascalz I was really living for the feelings given
Of the rhythms and the reels spinning
Two spools new school few fools were too cool
It takes 2 Live Crew ruled
Lo and behold let me flow and be bold and I can tell a little tale
That'll never get old
Photocopying liner notes
Flyers for shows
Not one to stand by and watch time as it goes
So it flows
And this goes out to those who got tapes from Woolco before it closed
Whoa that's where I learned sage advice
They were the worst tapes at a really great price!

Black plastic red and white labels
Taping off the radio or mom and dad's tables
VCR or whatever you like
Recording on Headphones they worked as a mic right!
Now these tapes were cheap for a reason
Every Walkman I ever had loved to eat em
But I kept feeding the god lovin truth
The best beats I ever made were pause button loops
The quality was awful so thankfully
Somebody finally invented Blank CDs
Not Woolco Tapes
Woolco Tapes
Yeah I was putting in work on some Woolco Tapes
Lotta secrets on those Woolco tapes
I got a full dose of the Woolco Tapes
A Lotta gold on those Woolco Tapes
