Serenity (Letter To X)
Last time you spoke about how XXXTENTACION was a big influence for you
Can you talk a little bit about that and how his death affected you?
X's influence is insane, bro, like not even just for me, like for everybody else in many different lanes
Like you ain't even gotta rap and he could still influence you
His death is a core memory for me, I remember seeing headlines like, "Bro, this can't be real"
When I found out the news, it was like three years ago
I had checked my Instagram and then I seen
A brand-new post, it's from TMZ (what the fuck? I don't even follow TMZ)
I seen that he died, a cry wasn't a go to me
I thought a nigga lied and tried to play a joke with me
Don't you know the feeling of a loved one dyin'?
Only difference we not related, he wasn't even close to me
This situation taught me to keep a stick close to me
For any nigga who try to attempt approachin' me
Global nigga, stayed down locally
Tryna put me inside a opp pack, brag about how they smokin' me
Swear to God y'all niggas be some hoes to me
He was by himself and y'all niggas was rollin' deep
When you think about it, he was tryna buy a bike and you robbed him for his life
Nigga, that ain't how it 'posed to be
He taught us distribute positivity
He taught us to protect our energy
He taught us you don't gotta hate your enemies
He taught Chris to be proud of your identity
I'm watchin' all the niggas around tryna be friend of me
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity (serenity)
I'm always gonna remind you guys that I-, that, my life is not great my-, my
I mean, I am fortunate, yes, I am
I'm grateful for everything, but my life is not great because I am still who I am
And I'm still human, and I wanna remind that, so I don't ever lose touch of you guys, you know?
I don't wanna make you guys feel like, "Hey, I'm not going through what you guys are going through"
Because I make, I make this music, and I made this fanbase
And I made everything that I possibly can so we can feel like a family
And so we can feel relevant, relative or related, you know?
So, I don't, I don't at all want you guys to think like
"Yo, I'm not still on the same shit you guys are on"
Ayy, tell Nip he was right 'bout that crypto shit
And Pop Smoke sayin' "Woo," yeah, we miss them shits
Wish I could rewind time to tell Juice not to fly and go take that trip
When he died, niggas cried, I can't fake that shit
And the impact was heavy, that's takin' a million hearts and breakin' shit
These niggas got me tryna say some shit, they inspire kids to try to make some shit
He taught us distribute positivity
He taught us to protect our energy
He taught us you don't gotta hate your enemies
He taught Chris to be proud of your identity
I'm watchin' all the niggas around tryna befriend of me
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity
And we can never stop 'til we got serenity (serenity)
He wanted love, peace, positivity
But with his late passing, he never really got the chance to really
Push that agenda the way that he wanted to (Dylvinci got the code)
So, what I'm here for, and my only purpose, is to push that agenda
Thank you all for listening, VIRALITY
