Note To My Younger Self

Forget the girls that told you lies
And then laughed at you 'cause they made you cry
You're good enough and your thighs are perfectly fine
Go outside you can wear those shorts
You're not a boy just 'cause you're good at sports
Just do your thing and everything will fall into place

I remember you'd wear baggy clothes on hot summer nights
Eating alone just to hide so you could feel most alive
I'm so proud of you for being who you are everyday
Let them say what they say 'cause it don't matter anyway

This is a note to my younger self support your mental health
Believe me it's gonna be fine
There's just one you in this great big world
So live your best life and always have courage be kind

Just because you've turned sixteen social media
Won't stop being mean
They'll body shame 'cause beauty is just a game
Promise me you'll live fearlessly
And be whoever you've always dreamed to be
Don't let your doubt tear you down again and again

I remember how you'd hurt yourself numb everyday
To distract you from the pain of reality
In a few years down the line
You'll see your scars fade away
You won't have to medicate you're alive

This is a note to my younger self support your mental health
Believe me you're gonna be fine
There's just one you in this great big world
So live your best life and always have courage be kind

Fallen and I feel defeated
Tell me that they didn't mean it
Cause what they say won't bring that kid back home
Feeling like I'm finally healing now
I'm the one that I believe in

This is a note to my younger self support your mental health
Believe me you're gonna be fine
There's just one you in this great big world
So live your best life and always have courage be kind
