Halifax

It's been a while since I left Halifax
But only my gum tastes familiar
It's been a while since I held a gun
It hurts to say I used to be combative and in misery
When I hit the road I was already dying
The colors that paint the sky meant nothing
By the time I made it to Oregon
My courtesy to smile at them was gone and I was angry
First thing at dawn I rush to my backpack
It's been sitting there for a week
Creep down the stairs
Are my parents sleeping?
It's hard for me to do these things but I want my reality
Next stop is down at the shell gas station
I need some snacks and a break
Last time that I saw my ma and father, honestly it worked on me
But this is how it has to be
