Roadkill

I tend to hope to show up in your dreams
'Cause you appear in mine each night
And I will scale the tallest tree, climb the highest peak
Reach the highest height, just so I can stay in sight

Maybe you would try to get inside my head
Though you are already there
No, I think that I've accepted
That you don't really care

If a tree falls in a forest
And no one's around to hear it
Does it even make a sound?
But I will mourn every roadkill
Every animal that ends up
Flattened on the ground

I tend to watch you from the corner of my eye
I pick flowers from the field
And when I turn my gaze towards you, you never meet mine
I guess you'll never requite how I feel

If a tree falls in a forest
And no one's around to hear it
Does it even make a sound?
But I will mourn every roadkill
Every animal which ends up
Flattened on the ground
All I am, all I wanna be
Is just a fly
On your wall
I wanna be standing on the forest floor
In amongst the trees
Watching them all fall
