Shiny Eyes

Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay
Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay in the ocean, ocean

Lone survivor of sons and daughters that were eaten by predators
Couldn't be protected too much by their father
Sometimes she still wonders about them
While she swims around in the water
But as of for now nothing has caught her
Ducking and dodging and gulping for oxygen
Maybe she's lucky like she struck the lotto
Snuck by an otter, swim up a little farther
What is my purpose, what if I jump to the surface
The sunlight reveals that there's something near lurking
Thought it was a Sea urchin, Up close it's a serpent
It's tough to interpret so muddy and murky
Poseidon have mercy
Why have you cursed me with a life full of urgency
I'm always hurt and I'm tired and hungry I rush in a hurry
But it gave me endurance and hustle and courage
Cherish the life you live until you perish
If she's ever bested her muscles will nourish
One day she'll understand what is occurring
No concept of time just go against the current
Beasts with four limbs blowing bubbles submerges
Exploring her world gave her urges
To see what they are searching for, where did they come from she's nervous
To pick up above where the birds live

Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay
Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay in the ocean, ocean

Sleep an iota, keep an eye open
At peace with the dangers here deep in the ocean
Seasons will change the sea has its moments
If you keep within range of the species you roll with
Power in numbers there's millions of us
Come and get some if you really want it
Spill your insides trying to fill your stomach
Eyes watching her back see the killer coming
When the water is calm she build sand castles
Queen of all fish and the land mammals
Imagination is channeled till waves take it
As it washes ashore by the raft paddles
Seen dead fish with possessed spirits
That abducting any foolish that fed fearless
I guess living here death is everywhere
There she was unaware that she shed a tear
Together they swim on this trail collectively move as a singular cell
United they're bigger than whales where each individual fish is a scale
Although I've been telling her story the rest are a part of a fisherman's tale
Cause instantly they all were caught in a net
And were lifted away on the ship as it sailed
She watches with

Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay
Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay in the ocean, ocean

Gravity pulls her down while she pushes upstream
Felt a sudden sting from the jagged rocks
As the rapids scrape on her sides making her cut and bleed
Leaving a puddle of blood diluted to nothing
With all her might she swam up and leaped
In between the teeth of a bear and her cubs that were hungry
Narrow escape but would it have been such a terrible feet
To go find an area safe she can lay her eggs
Then by an eagle get carried away
She hid her offspring by a hot spring
In a lake with a cave they were carefully placed
The water was clear with her clarity of how she became prepared for this day
At an inlet was a father and son on a fishing trip
Last thing on her wish list was an honorable death
And she knew then this was it
Bit the bait and didn't resist
Because the role of the salmon is preventing the planet
From going through famine
She was wild and alive
So proud her demise was teaching a living thing how to survive
They looked into

Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay
Her shiny eyes
Hold reflections of the sky
And we're here all the time
And we'll stay in the ocean, ocean
