Birdsong

There isn't much that I can say
To make the grackle fly away
I hope that you aren't gone for long
I heard your voice in a birdsong

I'm not angry anymore
A red wave crashes to the shore
It's a beaten path, but it's not long
I sit and listen to the birdsong

Roots are hiding from winter air
A sign that life will always be there
The leaves and branches hum along
The rest join in with a birdsong

I wish that I could find the words
To describe how quickly it all occurs
I'm afraid I'd say it wrong
So I'll settle for a birdsong
