Evil Eye

The evil eye was cast upon a boy
Who stole an ancient ring
He had no idea of the pain
Or suffering it would bring
The son of a wealthy businessman
Who had given him everything
But money couldn't buy his salvation
Or hasten his healing

Don't cast no evil eye
Don't cast no evil eye
Don't cast no evil eye on me

Years passed and the bad luck followed the boy
Who was now a young man
A disgrace to his family and his kin
They all turned their backs on him
All except his mother who bought him a ticket
To sail to a new land
He watched the fading coast and hung his head
And this is what he said

Don't cast no evil eye
Don't cast no evil eye
Don't cast no evil eye on me

He rode from town to town to hide his shame
But a darkness remained
Another town, another loss, until the folks caught on
And ran him off
A wise elder shaman sensed his curse
And she pulled him aside
"Find the raven in the heart of the woods, call him down
And look him in the eye"

Don't cast no evil eye
Don't glance no evil eye
Don't ya cast no evil eye on me

The ride was rough and rocky, long and hard
But he finally found the place
Three days no rest, no water, a fevers' grip
But he would not be phased
Collapsed in the center of a field
He looked up to the sky
The Ravens circled 'round, one flew down
And looked him in the eye

He said, Give me your evil eye
Give me your evil eye
Pass it on and you'll be free
Give me your evil eye
Give me your evil eye
Pass it on and you'll be me
