Mariner's Tale

When I was a child the sea called to me
Each crash of the waves spoke His name
The presence of God it was beckoning
To an ocean that no man could tame

The morning brought sounds of the harbor men
Preparing to meet the demand
But the love of the shore it would hinder them
From sailing too far from the land

La da da da da da
La da da da

I questioned the cause of their apathy
The depths of the ocean to dare
They sang tales of monsters and stormy seas
But in my heart I smelled salt in the air

So I cast off the lines of duplicity
Sailing deep I left them behind
To explore an ocean of wonderment
The depths of God's presence to find

Oh and this is where I should be
Out on God's ocean
I hear the ships bell
Ringing out for all to hear
And the waves crash my bow
I find God in the motion
His presence abounds
And in His heart, He immerses, immerses me

I returned to the harbor I'd known so well
And sang them a tale of the deep
Of life and death, heaven and hell
And the dangers of shallow belief

The waves of this ocean still call to me
As the wind of His voice fills my sail
I'll ride this wave through eternity
And sing this mariner's tale

Oh and this is where I should be
Out on God's ocean
Oh, I hear the ships bell
Ringing out for all to hear
And the waves crash my bow
I find God in the motion
His presence abounds
And in His heart, He immerses, immerses me

This is where I should be
Out on God's ocean
Oh, I hear the ships bell
Ringing out for all to hear
And the waves crash my bow
I find God in the motion
Oh, His presence abounds
And in His heart, He immerses, immerses me

Deep calls to deep
Out on God's ocean
Oh, I hear the ships bell
Ringing out for all to hear
And the waves crash my bow
I find God in the motion
Oh, His presence abounds
And in His heart, He immerses, immerses me
