My First Abduction (September 4th, 1989)

I woke up from a fever dream.
A few days earlier
I had come down with the flu
and I hadn't been sleeping well.
Slipping in and out of nightmares.
But now something had awoken me.
I don't know of it was the light
that came from beside my bed
that woke me up
Or the sphere.
There was a small sphere,
I think about 5 or 6 inches in diameter.
It was a light shade of purple.
It shone like a lightbulb, but ever so slightly.
The sphere hovered beside my pillow,
gyrating slowly and emitting
some sort of humming sound.
A soothing, relaxing sound.
I kept on staring at the object,
unable to turn my eyes away.
Or to close them again.
Slowly but surely I felt the fever
leave my body.
I was sure the sphere was causing this.
All felt nice, warm and reassuring.
It was here to cure me.
And then it slowly floated
towards the open bedroom door.
I got out of bed and followed the purple light.
It crossed the landing
and went into the bathroom.
I followed.
I didn't even have to switch on the light,
because the sphere shone so brightly.
Then, all of a sudden,
it diminished in size,
shrinking into less than an inch.
It hovered towards me
and touched my lower left leg.
I didn't feel a thing,
wasn't afraid or even curious.
It all felt like it was supposed to be.
Reassuring.
Calming.
Nice.
And then it suddenly vanished
and everything went black.

I woke up the next morning,
discovering a white spot
on my lower left leg,
exactly where the sphere had touched me.
As if all pigment had disappeared
from my skin.
So it wasn't a dream, I guess.
Or did I incorporate something
I'd unconsciously noticed during the day
into my dreams?

I still have that spot.
On my lower left leg.
