The Garden

Oh how time flies when we are foolish and young
Rolling down grass hills, chasing sun
Scraped knees and sunburns were our only concern
We had our roots dug down so deep

So let's plant a garden
We can pretend we are young again
We can take it slow now
With dirt in our nails, kneeling in the freshly cut grass

Our world's uprooted now from those simple times
Sipping cold water from the hose
Nostalgia creeps in like those green ivy vines
The burning pavement warms our toes

So let's plant a garden
We can pretend we are young again
We don't need your money
We'll just pot plants and enjoy whatever sun's left

So let's plant a garden
We can pretend we are young again
Our summers last a decade
And we'll just hold hands and walk off into the sunset
