Say You Believe

I know a boy. I've known him two years.
He lives by his rules, but lives in his fear.
Afraid of a force greater than himself.
Afraid of the ways of somebody else.

He stays up, stays out, has fun with his friends,
But when the party's over, everything ends.
He says he wants to find happiness.
He says he wants something permanent.

Does he know what he already has?
It's in his soul. It's been gift-wrapped.
If he opened his heart, he could understand...

...that there's One up above who made him how he is.
He died out of love to wash away his sins.
He saved him through suffering. He'd do it again.
A father-son love that he always wanted.

The real kind of family he sees in his dreams.
The real kind of father that won't ever leave.
But he doesn't want it, he must be naïve,
'cause the only cost is to say you believe.

One of my friends, she thinks she's so smart.
She assumes His hate, and assumes His heart.
"Why would He want me? I'm not that type.
Why would I want to be supervised?"

I try to live right to show her why
I'm living for Him, and not living to die.
And I hope that someday she's gonna wake up
And know people made hate, but God is love.

There's One up above who made her how she is.
He died out of love to wash away her sins.
He saved her through suffering. He'd do it again.
A friendship she wanted, but she never had.

The real kind of friend who won't leave her behind.
The real kind of love that will sacrifice.
But she doesn't get it. She thinks it's a price.
It's a simple payment... look up to the sky.

He made up the mountains, and painted the sky.
Designed constellations, and carved the cliff sides.
A world of His wonders, by His fine design,
And all that He asks is for you to decide...

...to put down your burdens at the foot of the cross;
To find Him and know that you're no longer lost;
To know that your meaning was made from His heart;
'cause when the world hates you, He opens His arms.

There's One up above who calls us His own.
He lifts us from darkness to sit by His throne.
An unending love that the world doesn't know.
No matter how far gone, He welcomes us home.

(Say you believe, yeah)
(Say you believe)
