Lotus

I walk these city streets at night, just to fuel my own ambitions
As I fall before the common man, and his common aspirations

Hail to the king at the end of a string and all the ones who've died a martyr
Burn your gods while your mother's tongue screams whispers to her father

And every time she sings, I gaze upon her eyes
Won't you come awake, won't you rise from the water
Floating through time through all of the pain and gifts that it brought her
Lotus in my eyes

Crawl to the edge of the wall as the sun falls down on moonlight
Underneath the burning sky we're breathing in the sunlight
Hail to the king at the end of a string and all the ones who've died a martyr
Let God be the judge of your mother's tongue, and the actions of her daughter

And every time she sings, I gaze upon her eyes
Won't you come awake, won't you rise from the water
Floating through time through all of the pain and the lessons it taught her
Lotus in my eyes

Are you scared, are you tall, will you sink to the bottom in the belly of a whale
Are you scared, will you fall to the edge of the earth
Are you scared, are you tall; are we disciplined to avoid our sin
Are you scared, will you fall; we can't feel forgiveness if we haven't forgiven ourselves

Won't you come awake, won't you rise from the water
Floating through time through all of the pain and gifts that it brought her
Lotus in my eyes
