The Ground And The Sky

Open the entrance of my tent
No sleep I found, my time's been spent
Considering should I repent
Before my life is from me rent?

The sun arises, sky is red
When it sets, the ground instead
Wake up the men, it's time to tread
Across the land we will defend

Breathe deep the air, it tastes of sin
Fallen world that's given in
Coat of mail now scrapes my skin
As we march in unison

Collective breath to settle hands
Don't want to take the life of man
Grip tighter still your sword and stand
We won't let fear destroy our land

From quiet to a thunderous roar
What grass is here will be no more
Trampled by what lies in store
Over the hill we're marching towards

Flags and spears crest the peak
Wave after wave of an iron sea
A vivid thought of family
Reminds me why we do not flee

We form a line, chills down my spine
I don't deserve these men of mine
One glance I know they won't resign
My fear inside starts to decline

Suddenly I hear me say
"Charge into the light of day!"
With one voice they all relay
Those words with such a loud display

Sprinting, charging towards the fight
Every step a battle cry
Sweat and fire in our eyes
The sun breaks through a somber sky

A few more yards till we collide
No options now I must decide
In God's hands my soul abide
Time slow down, the end is nigh

The sun arises, sky is red
When it sets, the ground instead
