VINCENT'S POEM

When I'm within your presence alone
Everything I see through my eyes goes black and white
While you consume my eyes with your vibrancy
When I speak to you
My tongue flows at an unforced rhythm
When I hear you
A smile transpires upon my face that glistens
I burned in pits of fire thinking it was keeping me warm
The riptide was luring me deeper into the ocean, thinking it was drawing me closer to shore
Your reassurance allows me to be overwhelmed with peace
Knowing that I do not have to agonize about the next season of my life
But, I am right in the middle of the season that I once looked forward to

Unless the Lord had helped me
I would soon have settled in the silence of the grave
I cried out, I am slipping
But your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me
When doubts filled my mind
Your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer
Psalms ninety four
Seventeen to nineteen
