Philemon

Beloved Philemon my brother in Christ
Grace to you peace from our Father tonight
I, Paul, am writing this letter with thanks
I've heard of your love for the Lord and the saints
I pray that your faith will allow you to see
By grace you were saved, in Christ you're redeemed
Perhaps for this reason your slave ran away
He left bound in sin but now returns free

I appeal to you for my child in the Lord
Onesimus, whom I love and adore
While shackled in prison in Rome for his crime
Your run-away slave was ransomed by Christ

Beloved Philemon I ask your consent
Cheer and refresh me to my benefit
Welcome our brother, receive him as me,
In goodness and kindness, by your liberty
Anything lost I will gladly repay
Anything stolen, please charge it to me
Remember Philemon, you owe me your life
I know in your faith you will do what is right

I appeal to you knowing you will abide
Welcome him back as a brother in Christ
Once he was worthless, now he's adored
A servant of Christ, a child of the Lord

Lord You appeal to us by Your love and Your grace
To cherish the souls of the lost and the saved
Reminding that all of us owe You our lives
Forgive our unfaithfulness humble our pride

We appeal to You for Your mercy and grace
For once we were hopeless in sin and enslaved
We have been ransomed by blood and redeemed,
We're purchased by Christ, we're holy and free
