Nehemiah (Nehemiah)

Nehemiah, living in exile
With captured Jews, having been there a while
Was cupbearer, for King Artaxerxes
And on that day, for the first time looked displeased
So the king asked, why are you so sad
Nehemiah, for you're not feeling bad
I'm not happy, 'cuz my homeland's walls are down
So king, if you don't mind, can I go, and rebuild Jerusalem

Sanballat and Tobiah
Men of Haron and of Ammon
Who were glad Israel was beaten down
Sanballat and Tobiah
Wanted the wall to stay crumbled
And Nehemiah to get out of town

Nehemiah, when he finally got to town
Took a secret tour, to see what was going down
But through the night, he found the gates and walls destroyed
He said rise up and build, but Sanballat was quite annoyed
Nehemiah, told how God had sent him
With the king's blessing, to build the city up again
But Sanballat, said you rebel against the king
And Tobiah, said what are you doing
And Nehemiah said, We are going to build the wall
You have no claim here, God of heaven prospers us
The people rose up, and they set themselves to build
They worked, built the gates, and in fifty-two days, they had the wall rebuilt

Laughed at all the Jews were building
Said if a fox jumped on it, it would fall down
Sanballat and Tobiah
Plotted with Arabs and Ammon
To come and fight Jerusalem

We won't let it fall
God is overall
This wall won't give in
Til God says it should end
We won't let it fall
We won't let it fall
We won't let it fall

Nehemiah, found out about their plot
So they prayed to God, and put out a guard
Their enemies said, we'll sneak up and take their lives
Outside of town, the Jews said you should come and hide
But Nehemiah, said we will firmly press on
Half the men worked, while the others soldiered up
Even the workers, built only with one hand
Sword in the other, for defense of this land

Now Sanballat, with his plot defeated
Told Nehemiah, to come out and meet with him
And when he didn't, he got an inside man
To try and trick, Nehemiah, to go to the temple
But God revealed this deadly plan

So Sanballat and Tobiah
Rebeled against The Lord Jehovah
But couldn't stand against His wall
Nehemiah worked
To show God's power unto all
The Great God, brought His people back, stopped the enemies, and showed Himself to be Lord of all
Lord of all
Showed Himself to be Lord of all
