Cinema

When I press into your mouth
Through your eyes sewn
Your tongue wrapping tightly
Around the teeth of frozen alones
Sounds around, around, around, around your retinal blindspots
Can't seem to ever connect any of the dots

Dark and unattended leaves the head to wrap inside you
It wasn't the best year trying to find out why they won't talk to you for
Six, one, three, two minutes, blank voices ring your ears
Makes it hard to try and find what's never disappeared

Never said I wouldn't try and see it around
Studying the street and waiting patiently but something must break

Grey, uncomplicated rooms of dark, peaking hollow
Dull christmas lights shot in modern, new-age, cinematic
Views of what you're doing as of summers long ago
The places that seem distant are all you've ever really known

Never said you weren't going 'lost but never found'
Said to never let them go, cue our mothers leaving

Separated further than the most, it's gone too far
Losing light, guess it's time to thank your lucky stars and drive fast
Darker on the highway, roads start flooding grey with snow
The places that seem closest are the longest drive home
