August Rain

August rain hits different
Than all the other kinds
There's something sweet
About the Seasons changing from on high
The water falling off my brow
Is warmer than the spring
But it's calmer than a summer storm

The way the treetops glisten
Reminds me of your eyes
Brown but bright with a shimmer
A glow that feels just right
There's a certain peace about you
Heavenly and sweet
Like the taste of rain on the tip of my tongue

And music seems to fill the air
When raindrops hit the roof
Reminding me of the songs
You introduced me to
Down that road in Pennsylvania
A late night I wouldn't trade for the world

August now is over
And its time to live our lives
Go home from play pretend
I guess I'll be just fine
But you can bet I'll think of you
A pretty girl with raindrops in her hair
