Heart

I can feel my heart beat on the inside of my chest
Now I am not an expert, but I think it's had its rest
I try to wear it on my sleeve, make all the world my guest
But sometimes it slips off and rolls away into my pocket unexpressed

A heart without blood all alone
Let it pump and leave its home

Now it is not in narrow company it's safe to say
But sometimes it just cries out when it doesn't get its way
Now you are there to mend it when it has a little break
You are its perpetual reminder that all things will be ok

A heart without blood all alone
Let it pump and leave its home

Now there is always sunshine I suppose
That might satisfy the hunger that it always knows
I know it's out there somewhere, and its light so brightly shows
And though I may not see it right away, in time I'll see it as it glows

A heart without blood all alone
Let it pump and leave its home
