My Moon

Here the stars are out tonight
A black sea of diamonds filling both my eyes
And fortune would find
That the black sea was good
It was misunderstood and though I'd given all that I could
No one sees it quite like they should
There's a moon that shines so bright
When the last drip of daylight is starting to die
And the world says goodbye to their comfort of daytime
We're trying to hold it tight since we'd given all of our sight to a blanket of light

Embroidered in darkness I silently sighed
When this surge of a feeling had entered my mind
Is the love of my life watching this speckled sky
And If I were the black sea will it come to be
And would I come to find that this girl was my moon

And here I stop upon the street
The stale nip of winter's frost kissing my cheek
But warmth is all that I seek
Wandering endlessly my mind starts to feed
And wonder of a soul my spirit's dying to meet
I'm at peace with my loneliness
I am not lost nor waiting to be found
Still I'm self-aware that in my own despair
I'm locked inside a cage this rage while I'm longing to be elsewhere

To me there's purpose in knowing the sky
Has no reason to dress in sparkling lights
Still the meaning I take from this spectacled sight
Our love will come to be so listen and you'll see
This inviting tune that the stars make with the moon

And maybe all of our scars resemble all of the stars
Infinite in numbers but won't make up who we are
Does the black sea of night feel it has scars to hide
Or rather accent its beauty by wearing them all outside

I stared in the darkness wondering why
As I felt a presence wondering by
I'd have missed it if I stayed occupied
And in my memory is what she said to me
My heart began to swoon as she smiled at the moon.
