Christmas in July

Cold thoughts bring me safely to the nights
As I sail across the sea of summer days
I search the space, the empty arid sky
For the memory of autumn rain
The next best thing, since the snow has all melted away
Now there's only one star that remains
I cannot look or wish upon
So I look to reminiscence as my medicine

Memories
Of the Yuletide of last year are all I see
I illustrate the perfect Christmas scenes
Ideas superimposed on reality
Remedy
Is the snow I painted on the evergreens
Is imagining the Christmas of my dreams
Dandelion wisps like snowflakes in the sky
Daydreams of Christmas in July

Everywhere I go I come across the ghosts
Of snowmen and reindeer, hollies and Christmas trees
Haunting the places
Where they used to be
The spaces that they used to fill last December
Keep remembering
Sensations of the season leave
Impressions that will never fade away
It takes more than seven months to erase
The missing of the holidays

Memories
Of the Yuletide of last year are all I see
I illustrate the perfect Christmas scenes
Ideas superimposed on reality
Remedy
Is the snow I painted on the evergreens
Is imagining the Christmas of my dreams
Dandelion wisps like snowflakes in the sky
Daydreams of Christmas in July

Daydreams of Christmas in July
