Hypnagogia

The flagship deity of the first world doesn't have me convinced

I see for miles these trees and sand
From the deep blue sea
To my friends who roam the barnyard
I've got a question: how does this exist?

Hearts they pound
The reason unknown, but the sentiment's visible in bright lights
They march down these city streets everyday

How does this exist?
This should not exist
Why does this exist?
This should not exist (and I'm amazed)

Solace rests in the leaves
Of minds far too beautiful to bear the weight
We're tearing it down, the world

I hope at the end of this maze lies a tranquil escape
Beyond our own imagination lies the true size of this place
The cosmos cannot be contained within the lines of a page
So in a hazy gaze, just before the slumber
I realize my own naivete and feel nothing but comfort
