Pray for the Hood

What is it gon take for us to wake up
This ridiculous it's like we hate us
The youth out of control cause they was lead wrong
They still standing on them same corners that was bled on
We can't always blame the system when we fail
Once we learn accountability we'll prevail
I say a prayer for the hood
There for everybody else now let's be there for the hood

He said he ride for his gang slide for his gang
Got in a shoot out with the ops he died for his gang
He was letting off but he was lacking aim
All over beefing on the internet he died in vain
Losing lives over Instagram live
Another mother traumatized
Sadly this the case in different hoods across the nation
Petty differences got them like drop your location
I'm praying for the youth cause they ain't got no guidance
Broken homes and poverty they resort to violence
They being raised by these rappers that influence them
This culture we've created is the very thing that ruins them
I'm telling y'all don't believe these rappers they be lying
They gassing you to do the crime got you doing time
Got you in the ground early got your momma crying
They got they mom a house they got tears in your momma eyes

What is it gon take for us to wake up
This ridiculous it's like we hate us
The youth out of control cause they was lead wrong
They still standing on them same corners that was bled on
We can't always blame the system when we fail
Once we learn accountability we'll prevail
I say a prayer for the hood
There for everybody else now let's be there for the hood

The streets put another body in the freezer another soul in the furnace
The cycle goes on and on it's like we never learning
I'm not condemning anyone but how could we condone
Beefing over blocks and neighborhoods that we don't even own
Municipal papers your name ain't even on
Dog eat dog world we fighting over scraps and bones
Gentrification created aggravation
Crabs in a barrel mentality from the agitation
Yet and still I believe on that name
From the trap house to the White House we need Jesus all the same
So it's time to leave your bubble and make a contribution
Cause you a part the problem if you ain't part the solution
Time to leave the four walls and hit the frontline
The risen one is coming soon ayo it's crunch time
Systemic racism is part of the issue
But sin is the heart of the issue

What is it gon take for us to wake up
This ridiculous it's like we hate us
The youth out of control cause they was lead wrong
They still standing on them same corners that was bled on
We can't always blame the system when we fail
Once we learn accountability we'll prevail
I say a prayer for the hood
There for everybody else now let's be there for the hood
