How Could I Have Known

When I was a kid I spent my evenings at her place
How could I not fall in love with such a pretty face?
Then one time over dinner she mentioned that she was straight
After that I dropped it
And never talked about it
For fear that I might frighten her away

One time at a party she asked me up to her room
I thought she wanted company, too drunk to see the truth
We fell asleep talking by the blue light of the moon
But I left in the morning
Without a word or warning
I guess that you could say I was confused

How could I have known
How could I have known
That you were feeling it too?

I needed adventure so I explored a foreign land
I couldn't have felt luckier when she became my friend
She made me feel like I could make a home of desert sand
She took a liking to me
I know she saw right through me
Now I regret not kissing her back then
Now I regret not kissing her back then
Now I regret not kissing her back then

How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
How could I have known
That you were feeling it too?
