Imagi the Poem (Defame Remix)
Peering deeper - past these catchy tunes
That were over far too soon
Through Fractal sets into abstract, alternate reality
Consciousness expands to include the Imagi-nation
Call it an annex
Like the Lonestar State, or the Louisiana Purchase
This new territory is only for the strong of will
Travelling
Past impossibly long tails, canvas sewn, set sail
On an ocean created in an instant
But why waste your time out here in Imagi? says the egotistical, narrow mind
Come back to the east, demand the so-called keepers of the peace
We fear what we don't understand
That ocean, created in the mind of a man
Twists into a freshwater lake
Imagi will mold as is required after all
Dig ditches, irrigate fields
Put out the fires in the corners of our minds
Those little spots where fear still lurks
See this desolate landscape for it's potential, not it's tribulation
Out in Imagi, you know what you face
It's you
Look that mirror in the eye, own up to your own lies
And Imagi will become your Neverland
One complete with a merry
Lost Boys Band, and a pack of Gypsy Dancers too
The women twirl & spin, their dresses swirling up and down
The sun sets and rises as they spin
Like little atoms in a Universe
Or the smallest cog in a Grandfather Clock
These dancers are just what they are
Filling their purpose in this foreign annex soon to be called our home
I wonder how long it will take to convince
Uncle Sam to run me out some Edison, and a telephone?
Inevitably, the mass moves much slower
We sailed on across the whole ocean, fueled only by our own belief
A land, it was surely out there
Filled with exiled artists, & rich-man thieves
Robin Hood left a map behind in Prince John's oversized pajamas
Robert Johnson sang us a tune of the place before the Devil finally caught up
Hemingway whispered of it as he held the gun to his head
And now we strap down ropes, gally to sails, and hope we find an open bed
When we arrive, it will be such a time
Like Huxley's Exile Isle
The world at large is so held down
But out here great minds bound
Off one another like far-off foreign acrobats
Standing on our proverbial tippy toes, we peer out of the Bird's Nest
Hoping to catch a glimpse of land
Or at least a dove with a branch in her hand
O how great to go toe to toe with Robbins. See eye to eye with Vonnegut
Challenge them even
Slow down and make some sense, I didn't travel the ends of the ocean
To let you run away again
Stand and speak my friends
Let's sing away the hours until the next lost ship arrives
The new arrivals will call out
There be Dermy and Ligyro
Poets turned pirates!
We followed your plankton trail
We set sail on a hope, and your words helped us cope the many storms
We stand equal on the shoreline and the measuring stick is a
Blazing Beacon
Of
Vertical
Truth
Come join us on this far off shore
This Imagi Nation
You only arrive as you jump out alone
In the dark
That were over far too soon
Through Fractal sets into abstract, alternate reality
