When the Lights Come On

They're putting light poles in the playground
And pushing back the darkness that I need now
The workers, in their hard hats
Have been kind enough to mark for us where the danger's at

And all our sins in the dark
Have finally come to light
And take us to the truth in the mourning sun
I'd like to swing one more time
In the safety of the night
But I guess I'll have to leave here when
The lights come on

The children are celebrating
Thankful now their bed times will be waiting
Their laughter and their screaming
Will keep me from the demons while I'm dreaming

And all our sins in the dark
Have finally come to light
And take us to the truth in the mourning sun
I'd like to swing one more time
In the safety of the night
But I guess I'll have to leave here when
The lights come on
