Good Old Peter
Well, good old Peter
Was a simple man
He lived a simple life
Til he gave up everything he had
To follow the living Christ
But then there came that fateful day
Jesus said "Step out on the waves
And everything will be alright."
But Peter didn't sign up for this
He started flopping like a fish
But Jesus was still in sight
And he said
"Peter, take my hand
We'll fix that little faith of yours
In this you can be sure
And I will call you friend
You'll know the Master's work
And on this Rock I'll build my church
And I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Well, good old Peter
Was a fisherman who got up
And left his boat
Jesus was making him a fisher of men
And he promised
he'd follow the Lord
But then there came that fateful day
They came to take Jesus away
Just like He said would come to pass
But Peter didn't sign up for this
They tried to say "You're one of His"
And Peter turned his back
Until the Lord came back
And he said
"Peter, take my hand
We'll fix that little faith of yours
In this you can be sure
And I will call you friend
You'll know the Master's work
And on this Rock I'll build my church
And I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Good old Peter
was just like one of us
He had failures, fears, and doubts
But Jesus chooses the least of these
to rule
While the world may rule us out
And he says
"Believer, take my hand
We'll fix that little faith of yours
In this you can be sure
And I will call you friend
You'll know the Master's work
And on this Rock I'll build my church
And I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
I may have found you in the dirt
But in Me you'll find your worth
And I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Hoo-oo-oo-ooh
Well, I choose you
Was a simple man
He lived a simple life
