Moment

I went to Nashville on a road trip by myself
To try to find something or to figure something out
As if the last few years weren't lesson enough
That good times will come if you push through when life gets tough

I had a moment while I was driving home
This all seemed impossible to the me a year ago
I won't pretend that I've figured all this out
But I believe I'm worse off than the me a year from now

All at once I'm looking back
To the moments painted black
I can feel it in my bones
In my skin I feel at home

Moved to Atlanta when I started school
Made my mistakes I was young and a fool
I've not moved far from that dorm where I first lived
But I've come so far back then I was just a kid

Climbing out of this rut that I once knew
All I see before me is a life in full bloom
Without the lows to punctuate the highs
You can miss all the best parts of life

All at once I'm looking back
To the moments painted black
I can feel it in my bones
In my skin I feel at home
