A Black, Black Hellebore

In seasons, flowers change based on the light of a sunshine
I used to be brighter than edelweiss, but now I'm darker than night skies
I am not a daffodil 'coz chipper's not the only emotion I feel
I'm not a bird of paradise 'coz my colours glow but my wings are closed
Though lavenders smell of love, they no longer soothe my heart
'Coz they died long ago when you stopped watering them all
The only plant left is a rare black hellebore

The shade of blue on orchids is too bright for my despair
But I have to grow up and learn that life's not fair
Marigolds and daisies are richer in your eyes
'Coz I've seen a charcoal coloured hellebore in my life

In spring, flowers bloom and lakes reflect morning sunshine
Seedlings sprout into peonies and the tulip colours vary
But hibiscus is too bright for me though I used to match it's yellow so perfectly
And poppies are too red to keep, they remind me of the love I wanted desperately
Though your affection soothed my heart, it was tearing me apart
So I couldn't cope longer when the pansies died after fall
The vase was empty with the exception of a black hellebore

The shade of blue on orchids is too bright for my despair
But I have to grow up and learn that life's not fair
Marigolds and daisies are richer in your eyes
'Coz I've seen a charcoal coloured hellebore in my life

In winter, flowers wilt away and flow in the wind
They just can't cope with a little cold so they retreat until the spring is bold
there's no colour left in the field but a black, so black little flower unsealed
It lives alone like myself and I and it never has to feel the hurt of last goodbyes
Though some loves must die, I still can not deny
I loved being loved so I threw my respect away
Though I gotta let the hellebore's poison wear off someday
