Sixth Grade

I didn't like sixth grade that much
All my friends weren't friends they were barely enough
Tried to fit in and do the best I could
But man it's getting me down just thinking 'bout it now

All those years looking down at the ground
Trying to remember what my mom and dad taught me about
Tried to treat 'em like Jesus or something

I hope it doesn't feel the same
I hope it doesn't hurt the same for you
I hope it doesn't feel the same
I hope it doesn't hurt the same for you

High school was a breeze but not so much mentally
I worked hard and stayed clean met your mom when I was sixteen

But even now with people around who tell me they care
I keep putting it down
They didn't know me in sixth grade

I hope it doesn't feel the same
I hope it doesn't hurt the same for you
I hope it doesn't feel the same
I hope it doesn't hurt the same for you

Sitting in the hall in a hospital gown
Shaky hands praying to God that you'd come out alright
Praying that your mom would be alright too

Hearing you cry for the very first time
Your tears met mine and yet still running through my mind
What will you think of sixth grade

I hope it doesn't feel the same
I hope it doesn't hurt the same for you
I hope it doesn't feel the same
But baby if it hurts the same
I'll be here for you
I'll be here for you
