Austerity & Other Dreams
There's a shadow on our cities
In the form of generational divide
Stains upon our uniforms, history in our eyes
For a future of feudalism and past imperial decline
We decided to replace holidays with pleasant country drives
Now they say we voted on a lie, like it were their first time
I could swear I saw a picture
Of figures I recognised
It can't be all our leaders
In the same pond as the swine
I saw it on the news
But no one seemed to mind
So it's business as usual then
The cruel leading the blind
There's a shortage in our villages, a tidal wave waiting
To wash away our shine
Cracks upon our statues, sink before our eyes
Good riddance to the slave holders who managed to get out of here alive
We can see their names on our pleasant country drive
Their achievements left in monuments that don't tell the toll in lives
I could swear I saw a picture
Of figures I recognised
It can't be all our leaders
In the same pond as the swine
I saw it on the news
But no one seemed to mind
So it's business as usual then
The cruel leading the blind
And somewhere there's a big red bus
Heading for the Dover cliffs
Driven by a clown and a host of journalists
Straight into the sea
To where our fish stocks used to live
Searching for a deal ain't no one gonna give
In the form of generational divide
Stains upon our uniforms, history in our eyes
For a future of feudalism and past imperial decline
We decided to replace holidays with pleasant country drives
Now they say we voted on a lie, like it were their first time
I could swear I saw a picture
Of figures I recognised
It can't be all our leaders
In the same pond as the swine
I saw it on the news
But no one seemed to mind
So it's business as usual then
The cruel leading the blind
There's a shortage in our villages, a tidal wave waiting
To wash away our shine
Cracks upon our statues, sink before our eyes
Good riddance to the slave holders who managed to get out of here alive
We can see their names on our pleasant country drive
Their achievements left in monuments that don't tell the toll in lives
I could swear I saw a picture
Of figures I recognised
It can't be all our leaders
In the same pond as the swine
I saw it on the news
But no one seemed to mind
So it's business as usual then
The cruel leading the blind
And somewhere there's a big red bus

Driven by a clown and a host of journalists
Straight into the sea
To where our fish stocks used to live
Searching for a deal ain't no one gonna give
