The Meadows

I met this boy, under the leaves
Late in December when white turns to green
Somehow he knew, I was in need
With only a sentence he said everything
He stared as I talked, about what life means
He saw straight through me but made me feel seen
It wasn't by chance, no it couldn't be
Was the boy in the meadows was waiting for me?
The meadow
The meadow
The wind blows
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows
Meadow
The meadow
Falling snow
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows

The open skies, match the open road
The pine trees blow, in the Utah cold
The Summer green, is drowned out in snow
So all of this change, reminds me of home
These endless flatlands are calling my name
A sea undulating with trees and trains
A sky freckled white with natural paint
That often brings in the showers and rain
Over the flatlands I got to a meadow
I wandered for hours a city boy rebel
I talked to the trees until I found this fellow
He looked so peculiar I had to say hello
I came over to him sat down, and then waited
I asked him his name but then he hesitated
I looked at the leaves with dew as they glistened
And thought that this boy, might just want to listen
I asked him if he felt the magic of winter
I told him all the things that made me a sinner
And then how I felt I was never a winner
But when I finished I saw his lip quiver
The tears on his cheek grew heavy and thicker
The only words he spoke to me was
"Remember, the love that you have is always worth something
But when you stop loving is when you're worth nothing"

I met this boy, under the leaves
Late in December when white turns to green
Somehow he knew, I was in need
With only a sentence he said everything
He stared as I talked, about what life means
He saw straight through me but made me feel seen
It wasn't by chance, no it couldn't be
Was the boy in the meadows was waiting for me?
The meadow
The meadow
The wind blows
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows
Meadow
The meadow
Falling snow
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows

When he had finished, the meadow boy vanished
I stayed for a while, not knowing what happened
The woods got so quiet, I knew it was magic
The boy from the meadows was not from this planet
Then everything clicked
I needed this
The boy was my answer
The world was my quiz
He disappeared quick
Oh was it a trick?
I spun in a circle
The forest slipped in
I spun in a circle
The forest slipped in
Now everything's closer
The world is looking so black
Is the boy still here?
Oh won't you come back?
The winds dying down, the branches go slack
A clearing's appearing I take to the path
And not one days goes by
When I don't think about
The small boy that I found
And how much he was right
On that late winter night
When the boy was around
And the world was alright
Cause I was at his side
His magic of perspective
Saved me and my life
And we all should think twice
About love and its worth
As the ultimate price
Cause not living with love
Is just living to die
Ohhh
Living to die

I met this boy, under the leaves
Late in December when white turns to green
Somehow he knew, I was in need
With only a sentence he said everything
He stared as I talked, about what life means
He saw straight through me but made me feel seen
It wasn't by chance, no it couldn't be
Was the boy in the meadows was waiting for me?
The meadow
The meadow
The wind blows
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows
Meadow
The meadow
Falling snow
Where I met and I talked with the boy in the meadows
