storm song

Wind; grey, shrieks
Along stone and glass
Whispering moors and meadows
Lushly, greenly, into my mind but
Yellowing with the season
My isolation provides not
The expected desperation
Instead, a colorful cast
An ensemble
Each with more pomp than the last
From parapets; eagles, crows
Watch me from the maw
Of the sky's hearth
Brandishing further news
Of the outside
But I do not fear
My fire and pen

My finger on shaky string
I slump over again
Out and back
And back and in
Every time I sit up I am confronted with the brick wall of cruel reality
So I lay back down
And do my best to think of nothing

The subtle static lining the air
When black clouds begin to fill the sky above
Deep in dark woods
Orange, brown, black
Distant flames
Distant voices
In minor key
Purple lightning splitting the horizon
Butterflies in my stomach
And the presence of something more
