The Diner

There's a dirt lot now where the diner was
It once felt like home, it's been gone for months
And I miss it to this day
It was a short walk from our apartment doors
But we don't live there anymore
And I wish we could have stayed

But the weeds get taller
And the drive gets longer
And it feels like life is slipping through our hands
If I could turn back time
I would give everything I have
To sit there again

I got caught up in the world's appeal
And I forgot to hold onto the steering wheel
And I was scared to death I'd crash
Well I know that I think just a bit too much
But that little voice isn't giving up
I better let it pass

There's a life out there I've been dying to live
But I've missed my chance
Every weekend, I'm an hour away to sneak a glance

And now I'm stuck indoors and I won't forget
To see all my friends over the internet
And I see it clearly now
Four empty chairs still look the same
But the scenery, it can always can change
So I'll try it anyhow

So I'll take the reins or I'll drive for days
This too shall pass
And I know there's never ever looking back
So the only choice I have
Is to hit the gas

There's a dirt lot now where the diner was
It once felt like home, it's been gone for months
And I don't really miss it anyways
Cause you're a short walk from my apartment door
I don't need that drive anymore
And I hope we'll stay
