The Silver Screen

So it seems
The world's divided into extremes
Brainwashed fools
Whose minds are lost in the sickness they fuel

We live in a hateful world
Where we only care for ourselves
What happened to empathy
Has it been consigned to history?

Corporate greed
The spineless rich are a poisonous weed
We pretend they're not hoarding money that they'll never spend

We live in a hateful world
Where we only care for ourselves
What happened to empathy
Has it been consigned to history?

Sometimes I feel I can't go on
That all of my hope is gone
I need distractions from the truth
Can't always deal with the burden of youth
And the horrors of the world
On the Silver Screen that world is gone
The romance and thrills they comfort me
With the purest of hearts laid plain to see
In my reverie I can live a fantasy

These reports
As incredible as they seem
Are not the results of mass hysteria
First eyewitness accounts of this grisly development
Came from people who were understandably frightened
And almost incoherent
Officials and newsmen first discounted these eyewitness descriptions
As being beyond belief
The only advice our reporters have been able to gather
From official sources
Is for private citizens to stay in their homes behind locked doors
Do not venture outside for any reason
Until the nature of this crisis has been determined
So if any of you decide not to stay for the party
Please let me know
Some say they appear to be in a type of trance
Others describe them as being

I forgot the world for a moment
I almost believed it was true
I forgot the world for a moment
I almost believed it was true
The lights came up
And nothing's changed out there
But for a flash
My heart it soared
And I know that nothing can take that away from me
