Canola Sunset
When the day is nearly over,
And all the works been done
And the view is golden paddocks
As we open our first one.
There's a purple light behind the wattle
Dusk settles on the land,
I see the blue gums casting shadows
As we stroll hand in hand
It's a country night
Don't need no city lights,
A canola sunset
Is all we need tonight
It's a country night
And the fires burning bright
And just like the night we first met
There's rain on the tin-roof tonight
The sound of birds fill the silence
And the crickets let us know
That the today is almost yesterday
As a cool breeze starts to blow
Parties and skyscrapers,
Sure are a pretty sight
But I'd rather sing hillbilly lullabies
Until the morning light
It's a country night
Don't need no city lights,
A canola sunset
Is all we need tonight
It's a country night
And the fires burning bright
And just like the night we first met
There's rain on the tin-roof tonight
Oh oh and the smell of rain
And the flicker of flames
Are etched into my memory
And I don't forget
The night we met
And that canola sunset
It's a country night
Don't need no city lights,
A canola sunset
Is all we need tonight
It's a country night
And the fires burning bright
And just like the night we first met
There's rain on the tin-roof tonight
And all the works been done
And the view is golden paddocks
As we open our first one.
There's a purple light behind the wattle
