Empty Seats

The pastor's praying how to get through this
Amidst the chaos and the brokenness
And everybody's got opinions on the empty seats

The congregation's getting smaller now
Everyone's become a scholar now
While the church's heart is breaking for the empty seats

Empty seats are not a vacancy that can't be filled
There's room for more inside these doors
Empty seats don't make us incomplete or mean we've failed
'Cause God speaks confidence and hope
This deficit don't mean it's over yet
When Jesus makes us whole

The church is not about capacity
And still we make that our priority
When everybody counts the numbers of the empty seats

Empty seats are not a vacancy that can't be filled
There's room for more inside these doors
Empty seats don't make us incomplete or mean we've failed
'Cause God speaks confidence and hope
This deficit don't mean it's over yet when Jesus makes us

Whole and worthy
He heals the hurting
In evidence of God's great love
In broken places
He ushers grace in
And he says when it's done

Empty seats are not a vacancy that can't be filled
There's room for more inside these doors
Empty seats don't make us incomplete or mean we've failed
'Cause God speaks confidence and hope
This deficit don't mean it's over yet when Jesus makes us whole
And Jesus fills our souls
Jesus makes us whole
